Neurako is a spaced-repetition flashcard app that uses the FSRS algorithm to schedule your card reviews at the optimal time for long-term retention. It includes AI-powered card generation from text, images, and audio, an AI study tutor, quiz and cram modes, and a learning insights dashboard. It's available on web, iOS, and Android.

Yes. The Free plan has no time limit and no credit card required. It includes 25 AI generations per month, up to 50 decks, up to 1,000 cards, FSRS spaced repetition, the AI chat tutor, and iOS and Android apps. The Pro plan ($59.99/year) adds higher limits, FSRS personalization, and the advanced analytics dashboard.

What is spaced repetition and why does Neurako use it?

Spaced repetition schedules reviews of material at progressively longer intervals, showing you each item right before you're likely to forget it. Research consistently shows it is more effective for long-term retention than rereading or massed practice. Neurako uses spaced repetition as its core review engine so your study time translates into durable memory rather than short-term familiarity.

FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is the algorithm Neurako uses to calculate review intervals. It's a modern, research-backed scheduler that models memory more accurately than legacy SM-2-style formulas. Anki includes native FSRS too, but Neurako ships with it enabled from your first deck. FSRS models memory stability and difficulty per card, and on the Pro plan you can personalize it by setting your desired retention rate and re-optimizing the scheduling weights against your review history. By default, FSRS targets 90% recall.

How many cards can I have on the Free plan?

The Free plan supports up to 1,000 cards across up to 50 decks. If you need more, the Pro plan supports up to 10,000 cards across up to 500 decks. There are no team or shared-library plans at this time.

How do AI token packs work?

When you reach your monthly AI generation limit (25 on Free, 500 on Pro), you can purchase token packs to keep generating cards for the rest of the month. Each token equals one AI generation: one text-to-cards request, one image capture session, or one audio transcription. Tokens never expire and carry over month to month. Packs are available in three sizes: 10 tokens for $0.99, 50 tokens for $3.99, and 150 tokens for $8.99. Your monthly allocation refills at the start of each billing period, and purchased tokens are used only after the monthly limit is exhausted.

Can I import my Anki decks?

Yes, on the Neurako web app. Export your deck from Anki Desktop as an .apkg file, then go to Decks → Import from Anki, drop the file, preview, and confirm. The package is parsed in your browser. Front and back text transfer; review history, images, and audio do not. Import is not available in the iOS or Android apps yet.

Do I need an internet connection to study?

Yes. Study sessions, card ratings, AI generation, the voice tutor, and syncing new content all require an active internet connection on web and mobile. Neurako syncs your decks and progress through the cloud when you are connected.

How does the AI tutor work?

The AI tutor is a conversational assistant available during study sessions. You can ask it to explain a concept from the current card, give you a related example, or quiz you differently. It's available in text mode on all plans and as a voice tutor on mobile. Tutor conversations are processed by Google Gemini. You can clear tutor memory from Settings → AI Settings.

Is my data private? Who can see my cards?

Your decks and card content are stored in your account and are not shared with other users unless you explicitly publish a deck as public. Neurako uses several external services that process parts of your data as part of normal product operation: Supabase stores your card data and account, Google Gemini processes AI feature inputs, PostHog collects product analytics, and Stripe or RevenueCat handle payments. Neurako does not sell your data to third parties.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, anytime. If you subscribed on iOS or Android, cancel through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you subscribed on web, cancel from Settings → Account → Manage Subscription. After cancellation, your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period, then your account reverts to the Free plan. Your decks and cards remain in the account.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm the deletion. This permanently removes your profile, decks, card content, review history, and tutor memory. Some billing records may be retained as required by the payment processor or by law.

What platforms is Neurako available on?

Neurako is available as a web app at app.neurako.com, an iOS app on the App Store, and an Android app on Google Play. Your account, decks, and review history sync across all platforms automatically.

Why is my card interval so long or short?

FSRS calculates intervals based on your review history for each card. Cards you consistently rate Good or Easy develop longer intervals because FSRS estimates your memory of them is more stable. Cards you frequently rate Again or Hard get shorter intervals because the scheduler estimates they are not yet consolidated. If an interval feels wrong, the most likely cause is rating inflation. Rate more honestly and the schedule will recalibrate over the next reviews.

How do I reset a deck or a card's progress?

You can reset individual cards or entire decks from the deck detail view. For individual cards, open the card editor and use Reset Progress. To reset an entire deck, open the deck settings and select Reset Deck Progress. This returns cards to New and clears their scheduling data, so the first few review cycles afterward will be less personalized until new history is built up.

Does Neurako support image occlusion?

Yes. The free browser tool at https://tools.neurako.com/image-occlusion lets you mask diagrams and export a native Anki .apkg with no account. The signed-in Neurako web app also has image occlusion with cards saved to your account and scheduled by FSRS.

How do I change my desired retention?

Desired retention is a Pro FSRS setting. The default target is 90% recall. Lowering it (for example to 85–87%) usually reduces daily reviews; raising it before a dated exam front-loads certainty. Change it from FSRS / deck scheduling settings, then give the queue a couple of weeks to settle before judging the new workload.
