29 August 2026 — In-product Anki import (web)

You can now import Anki deck packages (.apkg / .colpkg) on the Neurako web app: Decks → Import from Anki. The file is parsed in your browser and is never uploaded.

What transfers: front and back text (HTML stripped), deck-level tags (up to 20), and Hint / Mnemonic / Example / Explanation fields when those field names exist. Cloze notes become one question/answer card per blank.

What does not transfer: images, audio, Anki scheduling, and review history. Every imported card starts fresh on FSRS. The preview shows media and skip counts, enforces your plan card limit (1,000 on Free, 10,000 on Pro) without silently truncating, and lands you on the deck detail page — not an instant study session. This is web-only; the iOS and Android apps do not import .apkg yet.

See Importing from Anki.

Neurako App — Recent Features

Shipped features available in the current version of the Neurako iOS, Android, and web apps:

FSRS adaptive scheduling

Neurako uses the FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) algorithm with a 90% default target retention. FSRS models per-card stability and difficulty, producing review intervals calibrated to your actual recall performance. Pro plan users can adjust the desired retention target, set a maximum interval cap, and re-optimize FSRS weights against their personal review history.

AI card generation

Cards can be generated from:

  • Text: paste notes, type a topic description, or describe vocabulary
  • Images: upload a file (web) or photograph material with the camera (mobile) — AI reads the content and extracts cards
  • Audio: speak notes or vocabulary on mobile — AI transcribes to draft cards
  • Files: upload PDF, Markdown, TXT, CSV, or DOCX files on web via the AI Deck Wizard

Generated cards are always shown in a review step before saving. All AI generation uses Google Gemini.

AI Tutor

Available during any study session. Text mode works on all plans across web and mobile. Voice tutor mode (speak and listen via Gemini Live audio relay) is available on mobile. The tutor has memory of past sessions within the same account, which can be reviewed or cleared from Settings.

Streaming capture

When generating cards from images or files, cards appear progressively as the AI extracts them — rather than waiting for the full batch to complete. The first cards become visible within seconds of submitting the input.

Learning Insights

Session stats, deck-level mastery tracking, and rating distribution are available on all plans. The full analytics dashboard — workload forecast (30-day due card predictions), detailed mastery charts, and FSRS retention tracking — requires Pro.

XP, achievements, and leagues

XP is earned by completing review sessions. Achievements mark milestones (streak lengths, total reviews, deck creation). Weekly leagues put your XP on a leaderboard against other Neurako users; leagues reset each Monday.

Quiz mode and Cram mode

Quiz mode presents cards as multiple-choice questions — the AI generates plausible distractors based on your deck content. Cram mode lets you review all cards in a deck regardless of their scheduled due date, useful for last-minute exam prep.

Anki .apkg import

Import existing Anki decks from .apkg export files on the Neurako web app. Card text and basic HTML formatting transfer; complex note types and media attachments may need manual cleanup after import.

Note: this shipped as the apkg-to-csv tool plus Open in Neurako, not a direct in-product .apkg uploader. See Importing from Anki for the current guide.
