Neurako's AI creation tools turn your notes, uploaded files, photos, or voice recordings into flashcard drafts. The AI generates front-and-back pairs that you review and edit before saving — you always have final say on what goes into your deck.

Key Takeaways

  • Generated cards are always drafts — you see and edit them before anything is saved to your deck
  • Free plan includes 25 AI generations per month; Pro plan includes 500; token packs extend capacity beyond your monthly limit - Text, images, audio, and uploaded files (PDF, Markdown, DOCX, TXT, CSV) are all valid inputs - The AI deck wizard costs 0.5 tokens for 1–20 cards and 1.0 token for 21–50 cards

How AI generation works

The core creation flow is the same regardless of input type:

  1. Provide your source material — paste text, upload a file, take a photo, or record audio.

  2. Neurako's AI reads your input and generates card front-and-back pairs as drafts.
  3. A preview screen shows every generated card. Edit fronts and backs, delete cards you don't need, and add anything the AI missed.

  4. Save the reviewed cards to your deck.

Cards are never silently added to your library. The review step is always shown, so you can catch errors and refine wording before committing.

Input types

Text and notes — Paste a block of study notes, a topic description, or raw content from any source. The AI identifies key concepts and structures them as question-and-answer pairs. This works best when the input is focused: a single topic, chapter section, or concept cluster produces better cards than dumping an entire course outline.

Uploaded files — On the web deck wizard, you can upload PDF, Markdown, TXT, CSV, or DOCX files directly. The AI reads the document and extracts card candidates from the content. Long documents are processed as a whole, so well-structured source material (chapters, headings, bullet points) tends to yield cleaner results.

Images — Photograph a textbook page, presentation slide, whiteboard, or typed notes and Neurako performs OCR before generating cards. See Capture from Images for tips on getting the best results.

Audio — On mobile, you can record a voice note and Neurako will transcribe it and generate card drafts. See Audio Cards for guidance on structuring your recording.

Creation modes

Quick create is for adding a small number of cards quickly. Tap the create button, choose your input type, and the AI generates a focused set of cards from what you provide.

Deck wizard is the full creation flow for building a deck from scratch around a topic or source file. The wizard walks you through naming your deck, selecting an input, and reviewing generated cards as a batch. Deck wizard generation costs are based on card count:

  • 1–20 cards: 0.5 AI token
  • 21–50 cards: 1.0 AI token

Cards stream in progressively as the AI generates them — you can see drafts appearing in real time rather than waiting for the full batch.

AI generation quotas

Every Neurako account includes a monthly AI generation allowance:

  • Free plan: 25 AI generations per month
  • Pro plan: 500 AI generations per month

When your monthly allowance runs out, AI features continue working if you have AI token balance. Token packs never expire and carry over month to month:

  • 10 tokens for $0.99
  • 50 tokens for $3.99
  • 150 tokens for $8.99
In Neurako

AI generation is powered by Gemini models. Generated cards reflect the content you provide — better inputs lead to better outputs. Focused, well-structured notes produce cleaner drafts than broad or unorganized material.

Tips for better AI output

Shorter, more focused inputs produce better cards than large undifferentiated dumps. If you're working through a textbook, generate cards one chapter or section at a time rather than uploading the entire book. Give the AI a clear scope — "vocabulary terms from Chapter 4" produces more useful cards than "all of Chapter 4."

For file uploads, well-formatted documents (clear headings, bullet points, defined terms) give the AI more structure to work from. A raw export of meeting notes or stream-of-consciousness text will produce noisier drafts that need more editing.
